This tour departs every day of the week at 10:00. If the Alta River is in flood, this will be the replacement trip.
No previous canoeing experience is required. Training will be given before we set off.
You rarely get as close to nature as in a canoe. Flora and fauna pass silently along the shoreline. It’s like being in a nature film, just waiting for Sir David Attenborough’s comments.
As this trip is on flat water , there is no need for paddling experience. This activity is well suited for children. Training will be provided by the guide.
Nature and wildlife
This trip takes us into the forest west of Alta. The landscape is dominated by coniferous and deciduous forest, and many lakes in a row mean that we can go on a mini expedition where we wheel or carry the canoe from one lake to the next. Paddling in a canoe provides a close-up encounter with the animal life, such as white-tailed sea eagles, various duck species and, if you’re lucky, the king of the forest, the moose.
Lunch
This trip is also a culinary experience. We aspire to serve good food, preferably grilled over an open fire on the lakeshore. Lunch is included on this trip and the menu may comprise fish soup, the Sami festive dish biđus, a moose burger or salmon. The meal will be prepared over open fire and served in the great outdoors. Perhaps you will pick up a few tips.
